Historical
Before 1990
The French-speaking community of Charlottetown was grouped with those of Rustico and Souris under the entity Char-Rus-Sou.
The growing Francophone population necessitated the creation of a dedicated space in Charlottetown. The Carrefour de l'Isle-Saint-Jean project took shape in a building on Richmond Street in the city centre.
1991
The current building, which houses the Carrefour, École François-Buote, the Île Enchantée daycare, and the Dr. J. Edmond Arsenault Library, was inaugurated. Under one roof, one finds everything essential for living in French in Charlottetown.
From its opening, the Carrefour offered its spaces for community classes; dance, music, French classes.
2016
Expansion project on the school side, major renovations for the Carrefour, as well as for the Île Enchantée early childhood centre.
2024
Announcement of a major expansion project on the school and community side. Proof of a thriving and growing Francophone community.
